Level: Advanced Course

Prerequisite Requirements: Analytical Chemistry I KA5003 (7.5 hp) + Analytical Chemistry II KA5004 (7.5 hp) or equivalent.


The Chemometrics course deals with different aspects of multivariate data and information extraction in the Analytical Sciences. Concepts like Design of experiments (DOE), optimization and regression are introduced together with mathematical modeling tools such as PCA, PLS, D-PLS and SIMCA and their use on different kinds of multivariate data of relevance for research and development. Applications can be found in e.g. Process Analytical Technologies (PAT), Metabolomics, separation sciences and as a basic research tool.

The course covers theoretical and practical aspects of the field using lectures, seminars, exercises and user-friendly computer software.


Examination consists of two parts;
- Theory 7.5 points
- Laboratory exercises and projects 7.5 points

The theory part is covered with a written exam and the laboratory part with laboratory reports.

The course language is English.
